Signs you've been in the Narayani Collective for far too long. - The words "Lao Ban" actually mean something to you. And you can't speak or understand a word of Chinese. - You remember the "good old" days of ezyBoard. - You sing the "Narayani Pink and Green" song far too often. - You have dreams about the Collective and the forum. - Hugging is a welcoming ritual
meh! I was bored and so typed that out. See if you can add anything else to the list.

Cool!
- You know that nobody could ever be at the Collective for too long.
I'm curious: what does Lao Ban actually translate to? *Is* it translatable?

It essentially means "Boss". "Lao" means old and I don't really know how the words "Ban" translate to something that relates to the meaning.

What?! "Lao" means "old"?! You didn't mention that when you first gave me the nickname! More signs (although possibly just that you've played Exile too much) : 1.) You remember when the phrase "Narayani Collective" was at best a joke and at worst vaguely derogatory (before we had a board or were "organized.") 2a.) You have a whole speech for people who ask what's so special about Narayan... 2b.) But you launch into a tirade instead if you think they're really making fun of Narayan. 3a.) You want to be just like Mary DeMarle when you grow up... 3b.) Even though you're 22. 4.) You've used the phrases "By the Weaving!" or "May the spirits of my people serve to guide me in this." 5.) You think there should be a whole game about Narayan. 6a.) You think there should be a whole novel about Narayan... 6b.) And so you've decided to write one... 6c.) But you're worried that because won't be "official"... 6d.) Because you might get some tiny detail wrong. 7.) You think "throw[ing] puffer spores" is an indication that you're celebrating something, particularly meeting a new friend or a birthday. 8.) You can explain The Weaving to someone in great detail but flooded someone's kitchen the last time you tried to use a dishwasher. (Yes, that really happened. Labour-saving device, my foot!)

So many the "lao" is there to show that the boss is wise. maybe? (:

You know you've been in NC for far too long when you can keep finding it being reborn around the internet.
